Japan Open - Mao's return (and others)

As the season slowwwwwlly gets underway (come on Grand Prix!!) Mao Asada made her dabute other the weekend with a new program. Whilst I am NEVER fan of Swan Lake, I do love this program. It must be acknowledged how good Mao is looking. And not a chiffon breast in sight!
I am unsure as to why there are two camel spin combo and no lay back.. perhaps this was an error, as she received 0 for the second one (can't repeat a spin). Either way, fantastic start to the year. Love you Mao ♥

The US's top lady came out wearing yellow. Canary yellow. Girl is looking strong also. Hideous dress aside, this is also pretty good. She and John Nicks are a good team, and she certainly is becoming a California blonde!

Japans second lady came out dressed like a bird also. I have always thought that peacock feathers were bad luck, and perhaps they were today. Word on the street is Akiko started skating in the wrong direction by accident after a spin, and consequently had to do the rest of the program the wrong way around. V confusing.

Mao Skates to Swan Lake

It looks like our favourite gal is skating to Swan Lake this year. Whilst I am never a fan of flapping arms and tired old war horses, if anyone can do this justice, I think Mao can.

Can't wait for Japan Open next week.

I shall be eating katsu curry to bring her luck ^_^

Double Trouble - Elvis Makes A Movie # 24

There are few things in live that I love more than an Elvis film... and right up there is Double Trouble, the 24th film in Elvis's string of cinematic masterpieces.

Things that I love about this film:

♥ Elvis's cut out waist coats that make him appear to bearing a large cumber bun
♥ Elvis's characters name is Guy. GUY!!!!!
♥ Guy is neither a race car driver, diver or surfer. He is just a musician.
♥ His love interest is a 17 year old girl... much like real life!

On the topic of Elvis and such, how much does Priscilla Presley look like Khloe Kardashian.

Figure Skating Faux Pas

Figure skaters aren't renowned for their fashion sense or subtlety, but this is beyond horrific.

There are no words.

The Grim Dances Of Dance Moms

Whilst watching the season 3 finale of Dance Moms, where the famed Abbey Lee Dance Company win a "national title" with their dance The Last Text, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the other child appropriate themed dances the little girls of the show have performed before.

I think Mom Christie sums this number up the best "The girls start crawling around on the floor and punching themselves in the face".

I die for the reactions of the Moms watching their little stars act out child suicide.

Time for Joan Rivers favourite game... Starlet or Street Walker! Sorry Holly, when you sign your child up to be on reality TV, people will see her performing like a hooker.

God I love Dance Moms. Abby Miller can choreograph my life any day.

It is highly likely that I spent far to much time (or not enough time) this weekend watching Summer Heights High.

Bob Dylan ft. Leo

I am totally loving Bob Dylan's new album Tempest. Especially the 13 minute 54 second ballad that shares the albums name. Tempest recounts the tragedy of the Titanic sinking. One can only imaging that Bob was watching the film whilst writing the song.....

 "Leo took his sketch book"

I can only assume that Bobby was trying to make the song last as long as the movie.. a feat he almost achieved.

Oh Bob, you jingle jangle genius.

Few things make me happier in this world than Mao Asada's exhibition costumes. I love every part
or this. Marvellous.

Such a little babe.  ♥  ♥

Skating World Dramaz

Are they, or aren't they???
The skating world is in a tizz as to to whether or not Vera Wang and Evan Lysacek are living
together, or "living together".

I used to think Evan was a bit of a babe back in 2004... when he sported a lovely blue chiffon blouse at junior worlds.. Not so much now though.. bit too tangerine for me.

Can we send Vera to other skaters house and get her to sort out their wardrobes?

Scott Disick... Styling and Profiling.

After 2 days of being in bed with the flu (wah!) I dragged myself out of bed tonight, to the couch, to watch American Psycho with the boy. Obviously when one watched American Psycho, they think of Scott Disick (babe!). Oh my, style icon.

In a coat he borrowed from Henry VIII ft. cane

Green with envy! (or money)

He's got his cane and his gal!

Looking sporty!

Pretty in pink/peachy keen!

Oh Scott... my favourite Kardashian. You make me wish I wore colour.

Shoes Shoes Shoes

Yesterday I braved going into society to obtain new shoes.

I now own Nikes.

As I was leaving the house to go for a run today, I asked the Boy, Do I look like I'm in Run DMC or something?

Practically Sporty Spice.

What Are You Wearing?

I wore this to the The Naysayers gig on Sunday. Those of you that have known me since my trash bag years of my early 20's may recognise the dress! It is 8 years old, and was the first thing I ever bought on my once upon a time credit card*. There are few things in life that I love more than a tutu skirt and a tuff boot.

*Credit cards are bad. Pay them off and + cut them up. You will feel much better. Trust me :]

Miss You Carmen

Now that the off season is in its gossip filled full swing, it's time to start missing Carmen. Normally throughout the season I can be found yelling at my Mac screen "no more Carmen", and once was reported to have been humming it in my sleep. By far the most over used piece of music in skating (closely followed by Swan Lake).

So many great moments in Cohen's interpretation of Carmen. In a routine  that lacks choreography,
her pouty face is the highlight. Love how her skirt looks in the final position of the last spin.

Plushy Plushy. Dancing with ones self.

Probably the most iconic Carmen in skating. Witt shows why she is the most babin' skater
ever, especially with the entire minute of so during the middle where she does little more
than pose. Love her.

Baby Mao breaking the mould by wearing purple! Fashion forward as such a young age.

Miss you Carmen, although, I know come October you will be drowning me out again.

Betty vs Megan

Normally not one to stray from liking the brunette more than the blonde, I am certainly team Betty, when it comes to the two Mrs Drapers. It saddens me not to be seeing much of her in this new season of Mad Men. Bring back Betty!!!

No matter how alluring Megan Draper is, nothing will ever beat this.

I ♥ Chuck and Blair

Look at that matching floral theme. True love.

BLAKKKKKK LOVERS ∆∆∆∆

I love how Chuck dressed like a 40 year old business man as a 16 year old.
He is a mini Mr Big!

Chuck and Blair have easily surpassed Seth and Summer as my favourite TV couple. While neither have the jewish with of Seth Cohen, no one is more well dressed or tortured than Bass and Waldorf.

Chuck + Blair 4 Eva.

Miss You 1998 (part 1)

You are right Ben Lee, they will kill you. Gosh I loved him.

Miss you drawing black glittery circles around my eyes. A classic look.

How much did I want to date Dylan Lewis a be Jane Gazzo? Or at least have her hair. Nothing I like more than crazy coloured buns.

So much style in this video. Entire cast dressed by the Salvation Army.

2 Buckle Dr Marten mary janes... does one need to say more.

The 90210 of the late 90's. So much angst. So much cheek highlighter.

The greatest musical scene from a teen soap. More angst in this scene than the
rest of the series.

Here's Johnny!

A couple of clips of Johnny Weir training a quad. Good to see him being serious about his come back. He makes me feel lazy. I need to work on my triple *cough* double *cough* double toe.

Good work Johnny. Imagine if he actually made it to Sochi. I'm all for 30 year old skaters

And This Years New Queen Is....

Carolina Kostner of Italy!

This program really grew on me over the season. Not overly keen on the catsuit (call me old fashioned, but I like the ladies in in a dress), the the program is wonderful, and really felt this by the end. Good work Carolina, you are finally queen.

Skating to Requiem For A Dream, with makeup and arm flailing that could have only been inspired by the people in the gutter, is Elena Leonova in second. I love that she isn't 12 and her sheer determination got her through. Its a shame about the brown boots. I was really wanting a white boot podium. I actually kinda like the hooker eye make up.... hobo chic!

Akiki Suzuki from Japan rounds off the podium. At 27 years old, she is a true inspiration. Did she borrow Yuna's dress from the Olympics? Who cares, it looks great on her. Amazing to see her on the podium.

Americas "Almost Girl" almost made the podium. Almost is pretty good though when its worlds. Skating to Swan Lake... umm ahem... "Black Swan" she flapped her way to being the US's best gal. She is starting to grow on me a bit more. Her layback is nice... I've never really noticed it before. Has Mr Nicks gone crazy with the bronzer? I love that man, but he looks like a mandarin! Get rid of those tights... imagine those pointed toes in white boots... dream.

Hello Kitty (Kanako Murakami) wearing the most A-Mazing blue shade in the world ended up in 5th.  This girl makes me happy, but her jump technique makes me cringe. I fear she will have similar problems to Mao in the future. She has matured so much though, and Is a lovely girl to watch.

My beautiful Chairman Mao.. what can I say. I love that dress! Her fake boob illusion is much more realistic in this dress, and the colour is georgeous. I wish there was a lyrical component score. A few little, but costly mistakes, but, one must remember the tragedy this girl has suffered in the last few months, and the fact she even chose to see the season out shows great honour and courage.  ♥

There is little to say. Her spins are fantastic and her face is beautiful. I truly hope she is ok.

Round One.... FIGHT!

Last night world championships properly started with the ladies short progam. I am still waiting for the internet in my new apartment to be connected, so I had to made do with refreshing the ISU results screen. My life is hard.

Elena Leonova -1st

I dont even know what to say about this... other than I actually laughed while watching it, and she is in the lead. So much pirate!!! I like how she goes from being a sexy wench to a drunken buccaneer in the step sequence. The slowness of the spins is obviously representing pulling up on the shore... before the pirate suicide. ARRGG!!!

Kanako Murakami- 2nd

I love this girl. She is so much more mature than last year, although, she is still quite Hello Kitty. Solid elements, although I'd wager her jump technique gives Shin Amano nightmares. A skater who clearly does a beillman to gain points, not because it adds anything to the programm. Get rid of the over the boot tights. Good skate though. Proud of her.

Carolina Kostner - 3rd

Looking like a sexy bumblebee is the favourite, Carolina Kostner of Italy. Big first jump. Lost her given lead with the doubling of her loop. I like that she owns having the longest legs in the competition by wearing a non existent skirt. You know those people that have no interest in fashion, and just wear clothes because it is illegal to be naked? Carolina is that way with the skirt... can't skate in a leotard... lets ad 2 inches of frill too it. She is growing on me though. Her layback makes me cry.

Mao Asada- 4th

Oh Mao. How I love you. I don't understand why she is going for the triple axel. It must be all about honour now, because, it's not consistent, and one can only imagine what place she would be in without a fall.  Spins and spirals are beautiful. As usual, her dress is a hot mess. I do love her being a little genie. Very kwaii.

Ashely Wagner - 8th

The top US gal shows us what she is made of. I was kind of hoping she would being it, but, much more of the same old same old. Ditch the over the boots. She is someone I find hard to coment on. I usually forget her programs 5 seconds after I stop watching them though. Hope she can pull up in the LP.

Alissa Czisny - 16th

I dont even know what to say about this. She is very pretty. And her dress is nice. Best spins in the world, hands down.

Mao Asada Has Arrived At Worlds.. And Other News

Mao (and the rest of the Japanese ladies) have offically arrived in Nice for the World Championships. Praying my internet is connected by tomorrow night so that I can watch the short programs live.

In other news, my favourite lady of the qualifying round, Clara Peters, has made it through to the short program with a performance full of double jumps. Take that CoP!!

It Begins!

Today, it begins. World Championships. Well, the preliminary rounds anyway, which, is kind of my favourite bit. Time for Mao to be Queen again. I don't have the internet to watch it live on. This makes me sad.

my life is hard.
